June 18. Lawyer, member of the Presidium, Deputy Head of MCBA “Bureau of Lawyers “De jure” A.V.Pogodin and lawyer of the Kazan Bar Association “Paritet” O.L.Shemaev repeatedly achieved the return of the criminal case of Sergey Yushko, the rector of KNRTU-KHTI, for additional investigation.

By the Deputy Prosecutor of the Republic of Tatarstan, A.M.Zaika, based on the results of complaints and a personal reception of Defenders, the criminal case on the charges of the rector of the Kazan National Research Technological University (KNRTU-KHTI), S. V. Yushko, in committing crimes under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia, was repeatedly returned to the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan for additional investigation.

The Prosecutor refused to approve the indictment due to the lack of evidence of guilt, admitted significant violations of criminal procedure legislation, including the right to defense, and gave instructions in the course of additional investigators to check the arguments and evidence of the defense confirming the innocence of S.V.Yushko.

Earlier, on March 30, 2021, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Tatarstan had already made a similar decision to return the case for additional investigation.

The defense is seeking the termination of the criminal case and the full acquittal of Sergei Yushko.
